A walk for Alquézar. The hotel Santa María de Alquézar is located in the Medieval Village of Alquézar, the most unique place in the Comarca of Somontano and one of the most wonderful places in Spain.
The Arab place name "Alquézar" (al-Qasr) means fortress, and allude to the military origin of the place. It is a village that comes up on the castle shadow, on the mountain slope. It keeps an Arab and Jewish urban structure from Middle Age. Do not forget to visit the Collegiate of Santa María de la Mayor, the Castle, the Old Square, San Miguel church, the hermitage of Las Nieves, the precipice of La Fuente and the cliffs of Río Vero, the Romanic bridges of Villacantal and Fuentebaños.
During this walk the visitor will discover numerous "high ways" that provide Alquézar with a defensive character and that were use to cross the village without passing the streets.
